Lets hope its Hedifeld. Passed over for far too long simply because when Schumacher was in the sport noone was interested in any other German, unfortunately just because Schumacher retired doesn't mean that years of lack of exposure are undone.
If you rule out Nicks first year at Prost against Alesi, you'd be surprised how well he's performed.
If it was a case of 'deserving' the drive, I'll stick with Heidfeld all the way.
Consider this - he got shafted by Mercedes when he was passed over by Mc Laren for the teammate he beat all year at Sauber....Is that fair?

Another independant returns to the grid. Lets hope the other manufacturers flutter away with their coporate strategies and the sport returns to independant teams racing because they love it... not because they think they can sell cars! I'm all for it.... Renault...you won't be lost if you decide to go, sell to someone who actually cares about the sport...and wants to go racing! Sauber screwed up when he sold to BMW when the thought it would safeguard jobs and give the team a future... well how many of these people who sell are ruing those desicions as these corporate identities pull out when boardroom says so...

I don't get the above arguement. All the teams had the rules written down at the beginning of the season, its how they interpreted it that was different. Saying that they only won due to lack of competition is bit like saying Mansell only won his Grand Prix title for the same reason. EVERY team had the opportunity to do a 'Brawn' and interpret the rules in that way... The fact they didn't is their fault. Every year a team gets a step on a rival by creating a better part of the car whether it be aero, engine, etc. Brawn and Button won because they took advantage and kept their cool...plain and simple.. no other team managed it or managed to catch up in time to stop them .. job well done!

Paul Buckland - a good point I didn't think about. Some tracks are used by a variety of other motorsports. However there are also tracks that are only used once a year for the Grand prix...

Mike Gasgoyne ... a definate case of 'What have you done for me lately?' I feel. Last two positions he has held he hasn't exactly shone!

Quote : 'If they were all in the same car then Lewis would have won the title' Don't be so sure of yourself. Hamilton isn't the best racer out there...You have a short memory how he threw it away in 07 and nearly lost out again last year. Saying that Hamilton would have won the title is almost ignorant when you consider the other drivers on the grid.

I think he's a huge risk to employ. He can be the best out there but it seems to me that Kimi isn't ONLY motivated by F1. He's motivated by all kinds of other types of motorsport too. I think he should have fun and do the things he wants to do. He's not focused enough for F1. He should try rallying or any other motorsport that motivates him. Anyway you only live once and if he's interested in other motorsport then why not...its not a crime

Hmm Mike Gasgoyne being successful? Yeah once perhaps, but he hasn't exactly lit any fireworks with his last two teams. I would consider the jury out on Gasgoyne at this moment in time.

On the subject. I too can see Lotus F1 being around for only a year or two. My reasoning behind this? Well Lotus is indeed owned by Proton. Proton has been making a HUGE loss for years. The only reason it stays in business is because of massive financial support from the Malaysian Government. When there comes a time when the team has done what the government wanted in F1 (I'm assuming promoting Malaysia and the Malaysian Grand Prix and perhaps young malaysian drivers) then they most probably would not be able to justify the expenditure placed.

.... But that point or two might just be the difference at the end of a long championship....
