Walker hoping to deliver for Jersey Post

Currently lying in a strong third place in the championship, Jersey's James Walker will be going flat out to win in front of his home crowd at Silverstone as the World Series by Renault arrives at the home of the British Grand Prix.

World Series fans will have noticed some different logos appearing on Walker's car this year, with the Spa race seeing the P1 Motorsport driver flying the flag for his home in the form of logos for Jersey Post, which is backing his bid to become Jersey's first F1 driver. Since the Belgian round, the company has used it's sponsorship to showcase the brands of various customers, including Play.com, MyMemory and, at Silverstone, Flying Flowers.

"Getting Jersey Post on board is fantastic news," Walker admitted, "We've worked hard to make this partnership happen and we will continue to work hard to make the most of such a fantastic relationship. I feel proud to have an association with a brand that is at the heart of the island.

"My roots in Jersey are, and have always been, very important to me but, whilst Jersey Post is my lead sponsor, the aim is to get more Jersey companies onboard so that I can showcase Jersey all over the world and carry the support of Jersey businesses with me into F1."

Although he accepts that every race is important when competing for championship honours - hence regrets for a series of unfortunate results this season - Walker admits that a driver's home event is always particularly special.

“I'm excited that I have the opportunity to win again in front of all of the home fans," the former Donington Park round winner confessed, "After our performance at other quick, flowing circuits this season, Silverstone should, in theory, be a great track for us. Closing the gap in the championship is the main aim, but I'll be giving it everything I've got to get that home win.”
