Julien Jousse bounced back from a retirement in the first World Series by Renault race of the weekend to finish second in the feature event at the Nurburgring.

Desperate to keep his fading title hopes alive, Jousse recovered from a disappointing time in free practice to secure third and seventh positions on the grid.

In the first race, Jousse got a good start from the second row and was able to avoid the first corner melee that eliminated six cars from the running. However, just as the Frenchman was beginning to put pressure on Fairuz Fauzy for second place, he spun into the gravel trap on lap three and was forced to retire.

Things proved considerably better in race two as Jousse steadily made his way up the order to finish third on the road. That became second later in the day when winner Salvador Duran was later disqualified, a result that he was satisfied with.

“Starting from seventh place, it's a good result to finish on the podium. My team made a perfect pit-stop. My car was very competitive, I put in some fast laps after I came back out. Then it was very tight with Molina and then Alvaro Barba. Roll on Le Mans, I hope that I'll finally succeed and also manage to take a pole position!"

Clinging onto second in the championship standings, Jousse is nonetheless still 46 points adrift of Giedo van der Garde with six races remaining. Nonetheless, reigning champions Tech 1 Racing are still well within a shout of the team title, just 19 points behind P1 Motorsport.

“Julien put on a great performance,” said Tech 1 boss Simon Abadie. “He was very quick and drove an intelligent race, which has helped him tighten his grip on second place in the drivers' championship. In the teams' ratings we're only nineteen points behind the leader, and our main aim is still to win the teams' title. We can do it!

“Today, we again proved how quick we are; now we have to convert our potential into results. For the next three races Le Mans, Estoril and Barcelona everything must be perfect. This way we'll win races and we'll fight for the title right till the very end.”
