Tappy eyeing full-time seat in '09

Duncan Tappy has set his sights on a full-time Renault World Series drive in 2009 after completing a scattered season with another points finish.

Tappy joined the series mid-season after penning a deal with RC Motorsport to replace Borja Garcia, but while he went on to record their best result of the year in Hungary, Tappy himself was replaced after just two rounds.

Nonetheless, the reigning Formula Renault UK driver was back in the seat for the final two events, the young Brit going on to secure a single point for himself and the Italian team during the first race.

Although a collision with Marcos Martinez in the second event ruined his hopes of ending the season on a high, Tappy was satisfied with his weekend and is hopeful he has done enough to earn another shot at the series.

“I was really hoping for a strong finish to the season so a DNF wasn't the plan. The top ten finish from yesterday was more an indication of where I am so we need to look forward to next season and get some testing in over the winter to prepare for the races.

“Joining a championship late is always a case of trying to catch up with car knowledge so now that I have experience of the Renault 3.5 and some of the tracks I know that next year will be better. ”
