Turvey, Alguersuari chasing Spa win

Following a successful maiden outing in Barcelona, Carlin Motorsport drivers Oliver Turvey and Jaime Alguersuari now head to more familiar territory for the second round of the World Series by Renault at Spa-Francorchamps.

Resuming their season-long tussle for the 2008 British Formula 3 title during the opening weekend in Spain, both drivers came away from the Circuit de Catalunya having proven to be two of the quickest rookies.

However, the team have high hopes of an even better showing in Spa given that both drivers competed at the prestigious Belgian circuit during F3 last season, Turvey winning one race and Alguersuari claiming a podium finish.

For former Formula Renault Eurocup racer Turvey, Spa represents one of his favourite venues.

"Spa is one of my favourite tracks so I'm really looking forward to racing there in a World Series car,” he said. "After my dominance at Spa in F3 last year I'm hoping we can carry that form forward this weekend. I think we displayed really good pace last time out in Barcelona and we were unlucky not to get a podium. I'm confident that we can rectify that this weekend which will also help our championship campaign."

Alguersuari, meanwhile, says he is heading to Spa-Francorchamps with victory in his sights after challenging for a win in Spain.

"To be honest it's my second race weekend in the series and I feel ready for a win, and I'm sure Oliver will be feeling the same. We're both in good shape. We did a good job at Spa in F3 last year and as a team I think we feel confident at this track.

“Based on our performance in Barcelona, I think we showed people in World Series that we have the pace to be at the front. I'm feeling very positive as we head to Spa. No-one has tested here during the winter, and I think that might help us as well as no-one has the advantage."
