The Monaco race officials continued to exercise their red pens into day three of the blue riband meeting, with times from the World Series by Renault qualifying sessions being deleted due a range of infractions.

After the two separate group qualifying sessions had ended, Group A surprise John Martin had his best lap time cancelled for his part in bringing out the red flag that ultimately ended the session and confirmed James Walker at the top of the times and, ultimately, on the front row. The Australian, making his World Series debut with Comtec, dropped from sixth in group - and twelfth on the grid - to tenth and 20th respectively, promoting 2008 Monaco winner Charles Pic, Marco Barba, Sten Pentus and Greg Mansell.

In Group B, Miguel Molina and Mihai Marinescu also had their best times deleted for receiving outside assistance from race marshals after they ran in problems. Such was Molina's consistency, however, that he does not lose his place on row three, but Marinescu will now line up 17th overall.

Oliver Turvey remains secure in pole position, where he will line-up alongside fellow Briton James Walker in Sunday's race.
