Oliver Turvey has admitted that it is taking time for his stunning victory on the streets of Monte Carlo to register, despite having led the entire way from pole position to return Carlin Motorsport to the top of the podium.

The Briton had to withstand pressure throughout from second-placed Adrian Zaugg, having catapulted off the line as the lights went out to lead the pack into Ste Devote.
From then on, the Racing Steps Foundation driver looked completely in control, despite the persistent attentions of Zaugg, and even a restart under the safety car didn't shake his confidence as he defied his rookie status to complete a faultless weekend.

“We did the hard work [in qualifying] and got pole position, but I made a fantastic start – my best start of the year - and got to the first corner comfortably in the lead," he reflected, "I was confident that I could win the race from there, but I was just concentrating so hard on keeping the pace and looking after the tyres. I just wanted to be consistent and not make any mistakes. Adrian kept me under pressure the whole time but, to be honest, I was just focusing on my own race and taking it one lap at a time.

The win elevated the consistent Turvey into fourth overall in the standings, setting him up for a potential championship challenge in his first year.

“I don't think the win has sunk in yet," he admitted, "To qualify on pole was an unbelievable achievement, and to win the race is amazing - it's my best win ever. I'm really pleased for the team.

"The car was fantastic, it was really consistent throughout and I was able to keep on pushing. I'd just like to thank the Racing Steps Foundation for giving me the
opportunity to race in Monaco, its one of the best experiences of my life.”

The success was a landmark too for Carlin which, despite its great success over the years, had yet to win on the streets of the Principality.

“This is one of the biggest wins for Carlin Motorsport - and our first win in Monaco," team principal Trevor Carlin confirmed, "Oliver was superb all weekend and I'd like to thank him for a perfect job, and the mechanics and team - including Oli's engineer, who has been spot on.”
