The Glenfords Racing Team scored its best-ever result this weekend, despite a shoulder injury that threatened to sideline their number one driver, John Bowe.
Despite his injury, caused during driver changeover practice before the race, the Glenfords team decided to put Bowe out for the first stint of the race. That decision paid off, as the multiple Sandown winner and Supercars vet scythed through the field – making up eight places on the first lap.
Partnering the old-hand was a regular fixture in this year's V8 Supercar Development Series, Jonathon Webb who showed impressive speed and maturity to keep pushing the Glenfords car up the order when he took over for the second shift.
Peaking in sixth place, Webb handed the car back to Bowe to complete the remaining 49 laps, but an unfortunately-timed safety car saw the #111 Falcon rejoin in 16th position.
Bowe fought back to 11th place and became embroiled in a battle with Steve Owen as the pair traded places throughout the closing laps. Owen made the last decisive move and Bowe crossed the line in 12th spot, who said after the race, “This is a great result for the team; although I thought we had the car to make it into the top ten today.” Adding, "I'm massively impressed with Jonathon. He's a very talented young driver with a big future ahead of him and I truly am delighted to have him as my co-driver."
