New sponsor to WOW BJR

WOW Sight & Sound are to remain in V8 Supercars following an eleventh-hour deal to join Holden team Brad Jones Racing.

The company had held naming rights to Max Wilson's #8 Ford, but that agreement ended last week following the sale of the team by Gold Coast businessman Craig Gore. However, the company has now joined long-time backers BOC as co-naming rights sponsor of the BJR operation.

Cameron McConville's #14 Commodore is now undergoing signage changes and will carry major WOW Sight & Sound branding for the 2008 season. Team-mate Andrew Jones's car will retain the familiar Team BOC livery, the different sponsor brandings carrying over onto each car.

The cars will feature some WOW livery in time for Clipsal in Adelaide but the team will unveil the complete new look of the cars at Eastern Creek.

"Having WOW Sight & Sound join BOC as a major sponsor of BJR places our team in a stronger position," team principal Kim Jones said. "It truly gives us the opportunity to build on our recent changes and move up the V8 ladder – it will provide benefits to all our partners."

McConville was surprised with the news but said he was pleased with the new deal in place.

"It was only two weeks ago that we pulled the covers off our new commodores, but mine's already changing!" he joked. "It's the quickest change in team colours I've ever had, but gaining the support of such a dynamic company as WOW Sight & Sound will only strengthen BJR's position.

"V8 Supercars never gets any easier, so now with the combined support of BOC and WOW Sight & Sound we will have a greater chance of being competitive and realising our goals."

The company itself was pleased to retain a presence on the V8 grid with the new deal, which managing director Sam Savvas admitted completed the companies plans well.

"Our involvement in V8 Supercars gives us the ultimate 'WOW' factor and we were eager to continue being aligned with the competition," he said. "After visiting BJR and being presented with Brad and Kim's plans, joining with BOC as co-naming rights sponsors of the team was an easy decision and we are very excited about still having a presence on the track.

"Motorsports is a visually exciting sport that attracts a large and diverse audience and WOW is Australia's most exciting electronics and entertainment superstores so, the pace and enthusiasm of V8 car racing fits our brand perfectly."
