Agreed that it doesn't matter whether the A1GP turns up or not. The event on surfers paradise has never been about anything but the V8s really.
But settle down there buddy, V8's a world class series? I don't think so! Stick with calling them the Bogan Series of Australia or V8 Dinosaurs or something like that.
These days silly rules make anything interesting impossible to happen except another safety car when someone tip toes through a gravel trap. Oh no, look out! He may hurt someone!
Stewards need to take just a little back step and not be so over zealous to penalise every infringement that has no bearing, get back to some fender bending rubbing! Then V8's might be interesting again!

If the A1gp cars are a no show ,It will still be a great event with the v8s. It will go to show how lucky we are to have such a world class motorsport catorgory in this country. :)

WTF????? where are you from Timmie and how can you call the v8 series a 'Bogan' or 'Dinosaur' series. now i may be a little biased being an aussie but when i compare our v8's to the BTCC or WTCC they are worlds apart.

For short races, I find the BTCC more appealing... for longer distances, nothing compares to the V8SC... DTM is shocking by comparison.

Mixing varying length races and 2x enduro rounds with international drivers makes it a great test too.

I would say that if V8's had more air-time (air-time for it is a waste of time in the uk)

Well Phil the V8 Supercar Industry has recently signed IMG Media to handle the overseas exposure of the series.

Thence you should be in a position to feel the full experience with proper T.V programming.

Thence tell us if you prefer two litre class as a comparison to the grunt of V8s.

We tried the concept down here and it failed.

Matt Neil together with THE STIG have been here and had a go and have gone home humbled. Words straight from their mouth.

The BTCC is certainly a good spectacle but fails in comparison.

The truth is, Surfers Paradise has been doomed since Champcars colapsed. Without some form of world class open wheel racing, it won't survive.
Firstly, Indycar's weren't built to monouvre through a street circuits. In 2008 when Indycars were brought to Surfers, it was pathetic.
The only other series which would be willing to travel half way around the world for a single race is the F1s but they are contracted to Albert Park till 2015.
Maybe the future lies in something like GP2, Superleauge, WS Renaults, Formula BMW or touring cars like DTM, BTCC, WTCC or sports cars like Grand AM.
V8 Supercars are great but Surfers Paradise wont survive without some other form of world class racing.

Surfers is used as a promotion and the V8s don't have the coverage that the internationals bring. Lets just hope they get something sorted for next year.
