“There is no doubt that I am pretty good company up here with Marcos tonight,” Ingall said. “I don't think people realise just how much effort it takes to pull off a one-two finish in a championship of this calibre.
“The fact that it has only been done once before in this championship 11 years ago gives you a pretty good idea. While I say that, there is no reason why SBR cannot achieve the same feat next season, but I think it's about time Marcos got the smaller trophy.
“I have to thank Ross and Jimmy Stone and all the SBR boys for another magnificent season. I also have pay tribute to Ford, Caltex, Pirtek, Bosch and all our other sponsors who have gotten behind this program and become part of our success.
“Hopefully we can be back up on this stage again next season.”
