Castrol Ford Performance Racing Falcon driver, Steve Richards, joined SBR's test day at Queensland Raceway on Thursday where he sampled its V8 Supercar FG.

Richards got two six-lap stints in the IRWIN Tools Falcon, which he described as very different in set-up to his own FPR car.

"You can see there's some DNA from both teams in terms of the way things are done," Richards reflected. "There are other things that are very different though, especially in the way the car handles.

"You can feel differences but lots of them can be related to the character of the set-up; like SBR has a very hard brake pedal; FPR doesn't; SBR has different anti-roll bar settings to FPR etc, etc.

"Being so open about trade secrets is a bit of an odd feeling; it's been the same when they've come to us though. There's total transparency however; we're poring over all their IP and any questions are always answered.

"We were able to literally have a really good look at their cars and get an idea of how they operate."

The test was the latest instalment in a programme to pool data in a bid to try and enhance each others' competitiveness.

It follows similar experiments with Shane van Gisbergen and Mark Winterbottom earlier this year.
