Rally reactions: Rallye de France - Leg 3

"We had no problems at all in the morning, which was extremely encouraging but to be honest we were not pushing really hard. It felt good to set times so close to the top 10 - but this was not at all the objective. On SS4 I noticed a warning light that said the car was overheating, and I called the team to ask for advice. Unfortunately the line was extremely bad and it was not easy to describe the warning light that we had seen. Rather than risk any further engine damage that could compromise our testing campaign, we decided to switch it off. The ironic thing is that this was completely unnecessary. We've learnt a lot of lessons today - but this was not one that we expected!"

Nicolas Bernardi [Suzuki WRT]: [retired from leg 2 after SS10 – broken fuel injector – re-started on day 3 under the SupeRally]

"We're basically learning more with every kilometre. We've not had so much running on asphalt, so this is a valuable opportunity to develop the car further. I'm very much looking forward to tomorrow's stages, which are more traditional Corsica Rally stages from the past."

Francois Duval [OMV Kronos Citroen WRT]: [retired from event after SS12 – mechanical]

"The generator broke down on the eleventh special stage. We could only go on in safety mode from then on. I had hoped we would make it to the service but six kilometres short of Ajaccio everything broke down. A repair would have taken too long and wouldn't have made sense since we didn't stand a chance for WRC-points anymore."

Matthew Wilson [Stobart M-Sport Ford WRT]: [retired from event in SS15 – no drive]

“This has been another good event for me from an experience point of view. We have learnt quite a bit regarding suspension settings for these stages and I have been trying to improve my driving style over the last two asphalt rallies. I made a mistake here last year and didn't get the experience of all the stages and I was determined not to do the same thing again. It was disappointing to not finish, especially after having got up inside the top-ten but it's been great to cover all the stages competitively; it has been a massive help to me and I feel much more confident with the car now on asphalt.”

Team principals:

Guy Frequelin [Citroen Total WRT - team principal]:

"With both our crews on the podium and a score of 12 fastest times from a possible 15, everyone at Citroën Sport did the same top job on asphalt that they have put in all year. Seb and Daniel constructed their victory brilliantly, taking the time to perfect the handling of their car before going on to claim their seventh win of the season. They have moved closer to the leader in the Drivers' championship and it's a just a shame that Dani and Marc didn't succeed in splitting Seb and Marcus in the final results. Dani perhaps lacked a little experience to adapt quickly enough to the terrain."

Malcolm Wilson [BP Ford WRT - team director]:

"Marcus excelled on an event which is not his favourite surface while Mikko completed a remarkable fight-back today to take the final manufacturers' point on the last stage after being as low as 63rd. It was a gritty performance at a time of the year when every point counts."

Jost Capito [Ford Team RS director]:

"We've performed well and scored good points on both rallies to keep us in the lead of both world championships. I'm convinced that with just four points separating Marcus and Loeb, it will be a thrilling fight for the drivers' title over the final three rounds.”

Malcolm Wilson [Stobart M-Sport Ford WRT - team boss]:

“Jari-Matti has put in an incredible performance here. The way he has withstood the pressure today has been fantastic and the times he has set over all three days have been consistent and very quick indeed. We didn't give him any split times to Petter today but for sure this battle was in the back of his mind and he handled it superbly and with a mature head. Again it is impressive to have got both scoring cars in the manufacturer points and Henning has had a solid drive over the last two events. It's a shame for Matthew not to finish here but he has been over all the stages competitively and has the experience of another specialised event.”

Richard Taylor [Subaru WRT - managing director]:

“The team are pleased to finish with all three cars in points-scoring positions here in Corsica. Chris and Petter were able to achieve a top-three stage time each, however we clearly have more work to do to fully exploit the potential of our 2007 car and get back to achieving regular podium results.”

Nobuhiro Tajima [Suzuki WRT - team principal]:
