Henning back

Stobart Ford's Henning Solberg will rejoin under the SupeRally format today following his off in leg 1 of the Rally Ireland.

Henning, who was running sixth overall, went off in SS8 - the 22.25 kilometre-run through Glenboy, when he briefly lost concentration in a tricky corner and hit a rock. He then bounced back over the road and down an embankment into a tree. He was unable to continue.

Speaking last night, prior to confirmation that he could re-start, the Norwegian was clearly frustrated.

Indeed he had been setting some pretty good times, especially considering his lack of experience on tarmac and the fact he is competing without his regular co-driver.

“I am really disappointed with how today ended up for us, we were going really well up until that stage and the feeling was very good. I clipped a rock on the apex of a corner which bounced the car back over the road and down a bank,” he confirmed.

“My tarmac experience is limited and the muddy conditions make it even worse for me here. This is another new rally for me and learning the conditions is very important so hopefully we can re-start tomorrow and gain more experience of this event.”
