Subaru's number two driver, Chris Atkinson has set his sights on getting a 'good result' on the Rally GB to end the 2007 season on a positive note.
To date this year, the Aussie has managed to notch up 29 points, his best results three fourth places - the most recent in New Zealand.
Furthermore while he only has limited experience of the Welsh round, having only done the event twice and only once in November/December, when wintry weather makes conditions especially difficult, he remains upbeat and eager to build on what he learned in 2006, when he finished sixth overall in his Impreza WRC car.
“This year I have more experience of driving on slippery and icy surfaces going into Rally GB, whereas last year it was new and I had a lot to learn,” he noted last week.
“Testing is going well and I hope to find a set-up that will work on the rally.
"It's especially important to find good stability on the fast and slippery gravel. Rally GB is the last of the season so we will push for a good result and hope to finish the year strongly.”
Xavier Pons meanwhile is equally determined to do well in the 'third' car - especially as he has only had two points' finishes since joining the Banbury-based outfit for the second half of the season.
“I am looking forward to GB. Okay, like Ireland it will be difficult and slippery, but we have some testing planned and I have more experience of driving in Wales so I hope we will have a good weekend with no problems,” added the Spaniard.
“I finished fifth in Wales last year, but this will be my first time with the Subaru World Rally Team. It is the team's home rally, so I hope we can have a good finish to end the year.”
