Britain's Matthew Wilson has said that he wants to finish his season off in style on the Rally GB, the final round in the 2007 FIA World Rally Championship.
Wilson Jr will be making his fourth attempt at his home rally, having made his WRC debut on the Welsh event in 2004.
The Englishman notched up his best ever result in the WRC on the Rally Japan at the end of October, when he brought his Stobart Ford Focus RS WRC car home in fourth place.
He then backed that up with a second consecutive points scoring result in Ireland two weeks ago, when he took P7 – the third points' finish of the season for the youngster – and it is clear he would like a strong result in front of his home crowd.
“This is a pretty special event for me and the whole M-Sport team as it is essentially our home rally and the final event for 2007. It has been a great year already and hopefully we can finish off in style here in Wales,” said Matt, who is Britain's only full-time WRC driver.
“I have done this event more times than any other so it will be a good to come into it with a bit more experience under my belt.
“The conditions can be very difficult here when the roads start to turn into mud and if it is wet then it will be very challenging.
“Again we are going to approach this event with the goal of getting through each stage and getting the maximum number of experience miles in the car, but I think it will be good for my confidence to know we have done this event two times previous,” he summed-up.
Last year Matt finished 12th on the Rally GB, while he was 15th in 2005 and 13th in 2004.
