I'm ready for this, says Henning |
Stobart Ford's Henning Solberg has vowed to try his best on the Rallye Monte Carlo, even though it will be only his third attempt at the dual-nation event.
Henning is still relatively new to competing on asphalt and while he has contested over 50 WRC rounds he has yet finish higher than ninth on tarmac.
The Norwegian started to find his feet a bit more last year however on the 'black stuff' and now he wants to get into the top-eight and break his asphalt duck.
"I am ready for this rally and we will be trying our best here. My plan is to start with the same pace as in Ireland last year and then go from there," he confirmed. "We will also go with the same set-up as we had in Ireland because I really liked it and the car felt good."
Henning will use the new 2007 spec Focus this weekend – as will all the Stobart Ford drivers - and that should definitely be a bit of a boost. There is no doubt though that the thing that would work most in his favour is snow – and lots of it.
"I'm looking forward to driving the new 07 Focus but my experience of the roads in Monte-Carlo is not great because this is only my third time here. It will be great if there is some snow on the roads, the more the better for me," he added.
"We will go out there and see what sort of pace we have from the start but hopefully by the end of the rally I can finish in the points to start off the season."
