Patrik Flodin missed out on a podium place in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship category in Sweden last weekend.
The local star had shown excellent pace on day 1 of the event and was in third in his SYMS World Rally Team-run Group N Subaru Impreza when an off-road excursion on day 2 dropped him down the order.
The incident occurred in SS9, when he missed a braking point and slid into a ditch on a tricky left-hand corner. Although the car was undamaged 14 minutes were lost and two stages later, still distracted by the error in Horssjon 1, he touched a snowbank and cracked the radiator.
With so much time lost he opted not to risk damaging the engine and retired from the leg.
The 23 year-old came back on the final day under the SupeRally and while he set one fastest stage time as well as a second-fastest time in the PWRC, he finished way down the pack - 39th overall and 16th in his class.
"I'm very happy with the team and the car - it's one of the best I've ever driven," said Flodin at the finish. "However, I'm not very happy with myself.
"I made too many silly mistakes - otherwise I'm sure we could have been challenging for the class win. I'd love to drive the SYMS car again in the future however to make up for it."
