Loeb goes off in Rally GB recce

Citroen team leader Sebastien Loeb has gone off on the road during the reconnaissance for the Wales Rally GB today, the final round in the 2008 World Rally Championship.

According to early reports the Frenchman apparently slid into a ditch on ice and snow as he came out of the 35.34 kilometre Myherin test, which will run on Friday as SS3 and SS6.

Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena both escaped unharmed in the incident although their recce car ended up on the wrong side.

A number of competitors meanwhile are understood to have struggled on day one of the recce and some drivers have had to be towed out of Myherin due to the ice and snow.
