DAKAR: Stage eleven cancelled

Organisers of the Dakar Rally have revealed that stage eleven has been cancelled.

The stage was due to run for 215 competitive kilometres from Copiapo to Fiambala but weather conditions, which have already forced changes to be made to other tests, have forced organisers to cancel the stage.

As a result, teams will travel in liaison to Fiambala ahead of stage twelve.

“As the weather forecast announces heavy fog on the whole route of the stage and as the timing of the stage cannot be altered due to the crossing of the Andes and the crossing of the border between Chile and Argentina, the organisers have decided to cancel the portion of stage 11 between Copiapo and Fiambala that should have been against the clock,” a statement read. “The participants will be getting to the Fiambala bivouac in liaison starting at 8am.”
