Dani Sordo was able to secure his best result to date on a snow event after bring his Citroen C4 WRC home in fifth place on Rally Norway.

Although unable to match his podium result on the season-opener in Ireland, Sordo was able to produce a consistent display in Norway as he focused on securing as many points as possible for Citroen's manufacturers' title challenge.

Ultimately the Spaniard wasn't able to match the pace of the podium finishers on arguably his least-favoured surface but he still came home in fifth place, comfortably clear of sixth-placed Petter Solberg and less than 30 seconds behind Henning Solberg – who many had tipped for a podium finish going into the weekend.

“Our aim was to make sure of scoring manufacturers' points for Citroen but I wasn't one hundred per cent relaxed this morning, especially on the first stage where I was using my pacenotes from 2007,” he reflected after the final leg. “I went better second time round and I am pleased with this afternoon's result which means Citroen stays ten points clear at the top of the table."

Sordo had earlier admitted that he was beginning to feel more at home on the snow surface, having run strongly throughout the three days of competition.

"Driving on snow isn't my speciality, but I've got to say that it's beginning to come more naturally to me,” he said. “I have a good feeling with my C4 WRC, as well as with the set-up we have chosen for this event.”
