Snow rhythm, but Aava happy with point

Urmo Aava was happy to score his first World Rally Championship point for Stobart VK on the Rally Norway, despite failing to repeat his front running pace from the Rally Ireland.

His first outing on snow in a WRC specification car, Aava was determined to keep his Ford Focus pointing in the right direction after seeing his hopes of a good result in Ireland ended by an accident on the first day.

Initially struggling to find a rhythm, the Estonian battled on the fringes of the points for the majority of the weekend before securing eighth place after a flurry of top six stage times towards the end of the event.

Although admitting that it was a tough maiden experience on snow, Aava was pleased to come away with something to show for it.

"That was a tough rally. On the first day we didn't find the right rhythm and made some little mistakes which cost us too much time. Saturday morning was much the same but after that we started to get into better shape and it became more enjoyable.

“Our times were a lot better today so I'm happy about that. This rally is about experience and I picked up some important lessons about the set-up for snow events; we made some good progress during the event."

Aava's next WRC outing, meanwhile, has not been confirmed having only signed with Stobart to compete in the opening two events.
