PWRC: Prokop excluded in Argentina

Production World Rally Championship runner Martin Prokop has been excluded from Rally Argentina after it emerged that his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX didn't conform to its homolgation papers.

Prokop had held sixth amongst the PWRC runners following the end of day one, but was then summoned to appear before event stewards after an issue was raised with the front brakes on the car.

With the parts not conforming to homologation, the stewards elected to exclude Prokop from the event, with the driver himself electing not to appeal against the decision.

“The stewards received a report from the FIA technical delegate that the front brake discs fitted on car #131 do not conform to the homologation form for Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX,” a statement read.

“The stewards then summoned the driver and co-driver of car #13 to them and they appeared alongside the technical manager of the car. On being questioned, the technical manager admitted that the front brake discs were not in conformity with the homologation form and this was due to a mistake on their part for which they apologised. They further stated they had gained no advantage from this mistake and did now want to do anything wrong.

“The stewards, after due deliberation, decide to exclude car #131 from the event.”
