IRC: Meeke targets victory in the Azores

Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle will hope to secure a second straight win in the fourth round of the IRC, the Sata Rally in the Portuguese Azores, this weekend.

Having not contested the last round of the IRC in Kenya, the Peugeot UK pair will look to build on their winning performance in Brazil as the series heads to the Azore Islands for the first time.

With the Curitiba event having shown Meeke's pace on gravel, he will look to strengthen his championship challenge in the Azores but faces stiff competition from a field of twelve S2000 machines – including new fewer than six Peugeot 207s.

Ahead of the event, Meeke and Nagle completed a two-day test session in France to prepare for the gravel outing and Meeke said he was happy with what had been achieved.

"It's very difficult to make improvements when the car is so competitive and closely matched,” he said, “but we've been able to make a few changes for the Azores and I am very pleased with what we achieved because it was a very good test."
