Ostberg fights back to score

Mads Ostberg 'Supe-Rallied' his way to seventh place and two championship points in Greece last weekend despite a number of problems.

The Norwegian, who was taking in his fourth World Rally Championship event of the year, ran in the points from the word go, only slipping down to tenth at the end of the opening leg when he unfortunately lost time with a puncture and an overheating engine.

Leg two initially went well and Mads was up to fourth, 6.7 seconds in front of eventual third placed man, Jari-Matti Latvala post-SS10.

Alas though, he had more problems before SS11 and suspension damage forced him to call it a day prematurely.

Sunday saw him re-start under the SupeRally in his privately run Subaru Impreza WRC and he hauled himself back into the top-eight, posting a quickest time in SS13, as well as a third and fifth fastest time in SS14 and SS17.

Speaking in the final service, the Adapta WRT man was generally pretty pleased and with nine top-six times in total he had good reason to be positive.

"In the morning we were pushing quite hard and we are satisfied with the performance. We have shown good pace. I am happy because we manage to get points here, and this is very good, if you think of the problems we had,” he reflected.

“Of course it's disappointing when you think that we were in fourth place, but that is rallying and the sport. We must prepare well now for the next event in Poland in just two weeks time…”
