IRC: Gould secures BFGoodrich drive

Adam Gould earns a drive in the IRC season finale in Scotland with the BFGoodrich team
Adam Gould has secured a slot on the entry list for the Rally of Scotland after being named as the man who will pilot the BFGoodrich Drivers' Team entry in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge season finale.

Gould came out top of a five-driver shortlist to secure the drive, with David Bogie, Barry Clark, Martin McCormack and Niall McShea all missing out.

As a result of securing the award, Gould will now drive a Peugeot 207 S2000 on the event and will act as team-mate to newly crowned champion Kris Meeke.

"This is unbelievable,” the 22-year-old said. “It's a dream come true. I have to say a big thank you to BFGoodrich, Kronos Racing, the MSA and everybody who voted for me.

“It's bizarre and an enormously unexpected privilege that I'm doing a rally in two weeks' time that I didn't think I'd be doing, in a car that has already won the IRC championship this year - and the last two years as well. Like I said, it really is a dream come true for me. Now I'm focussed completely on delivering a strong result in Scotland."

Gould is due to test the Kronos Racing-run car on Monday 16 November ahead of the IRC finale the following weekend.

"I am very happy to have Adam in the car alongside Kris Meeke,” Kronos chief Marc Van Dalen said. “Adam is young and he has plenty of opportunity to develop. It is good for Kris as well have Adam alongside him for his home event: I hope that Kris will be a big brother to him."
