I'm having to double-check on my Guiness consumption levels here. It's anyone's guess whether this is a hallucination or whether I honestly am reading the news of there being no Monte Carlo Rally in '09, with Rally Ireland in its place. And are my eyes also deceiving me in that there doesn't seem to be a single repeated running of an event between '09 and 2010? Still, at least a predecent for the former occurence in 1996 makes it sound the marginally more explicable of the two. Will any similar stopgap events to those of the mid-90s, be set up for the most prominent absentees, I wonder?

For better or for worse, I guess it's a case of just welcoming in this championship's brave new world.

The FIA has one more steep of a calendar for kill the World Championship Rallys. They included rallys without level for one national championship like Poland, Bulgaria, Russia? or Indonesia. The FIA clearly wants to kill, the WRC . Why?

Well I dont think I will even watch the WRC on tv in 2010. I have no interest in this calender what so ever. The WRC is deer to most of us who have been in the sport for many years, this is a radical and for most an unwelcome move by the FIA. I mean come on, Poland, Bulgaria, Russia....what are they thinking ???? what is this ??? Its perhaps the death knell for our beloved WRC. Oh well, I was only saying just the other day on Rally GB to a friend of mine that its a shame we have lost so many great drivers like Kankkunen, Sainz, Mcrae, Burns, Makkinen and Gronholm etc, now were saying bye bye to a decent calender too, the WRC is going down the pan fast, I just cant see how this is good.

It's a shame to see the return of Cyprus (extremely expensive) and Indonesia, who hosts the WRC in 1997-1998 with disastrous results. loads of mud and no logistics. I can't say what I'm thinking in this moment. It's a shame, a big shame!!

I can understand Russia, because it's a big big market for the Manufacturers, but not Indonesia or Bulgaria or Cyprus! :? :?

Since the WRC became rally sprints, the rally's are only legendary in name. Now Marcus is gone, by the drivers also there is not a lot of legendary status left. Besides Loeb only Hirvonen got real potential. And with the current climate changes there will be no snow in Finland in a few years time anyway!
I realy like the WRC, but the time of real legendary rally's are, in my opinion, over. So new rally in and other ones out or circulate? I don't care.
