well petter i hope it is a forward gear, cause the way you and subaru were going in the few rallies it looks you were in reverse,up to 18sec slower on a few stages in rallye deutschland.i dont know how you can be upbeat about that.this new subaru does''t seem any faster or better than the old car.so petter until you do get this car to go faster and win something even a few stages,be a good little boy and shut up.

WRC » Petter: We found the direction we need

Subaru leave Germany with a 'clear direction' on the continued asphalt development needed with the new Impreza WRC2008.

jimmy buckley you were doing so well with a well thought out and sensible comment and then the last sentence totally ruins it. What sort of nonsense statement is that? Yet another juvenile post on crash.net forums. Where do they all come from...

A friend of mine put it best when he said:

"It really boils down to: you give Chris lemons - and if they are fresh he'll make lemonade, you give Petter lemons - he'll want them to be Myers from the coast of Italy and weight 7.5 grams each and if they are then he will make world champion lemonade, if they aren't, you're better off with 'Countrytime'..."

dear james,as i read your comment i soon realised that you have a touch of solberg about you,as you speak before thinking.i was simply saying that petter gets all our hopes up with these stupid press releases that he has ,and then goes to rally and ends up 5th/6th or if hes higher up well over 2 min of the leaders.petter needs to be like loeb says nothing unless he can prove it.

Petter, i want you to remember that u said the same words in 2005 and after each rally u repeat the same comments,........... we have found the right direction............., just learn how to set up ur car if u want to be a top driver, otherwise there is no difference between u and Mattew wilson.

I wish Chris woulod be no1, he is better on setting up his car and he gives better feedback to the team than u do.

I was a fan of Petter until i found out that it's his inability to set up the car and not being able to give right feedback to the engineers,

If he makes mistakes he blames the car, that doesn't help in developping a car

@ rich ard

Basically what I'm saying is that if you give Chris a car with a good setup, he'll consistently drive well with what he's got, scoring points and moving up the leaderboard.

But, if you give Petter a car with just a good setup, he'll be cranky and drive poorly until it's a PERFECT setup, and once it's perfect, he might just win you a world championship. But, if it never gets to a perfect setup, he won't make any moves and won't ever contend... and he'll complain about it the whole time.

thanks steelopus, but why on earth did you do a cantona in the first place? incidentally, although i am not a fan of petter, i cant say that i have heard him moaning much about the car. i think it is just that other manufacturers have caught up and passed subaru.

@ rich ard

Maybe a few times a year (less than 3 for sure) you'll hear Petter say "I screwed up. It's my fault."
But I can't tell you how many times he says something along the lines of "We changed the setup a bit." or "We need to tweak a few things on the setup." Etc.

My main point is that Petter tends to use the car as a scapegoat for his poor performance. Riaz put it pretty well with his comment.

I still believe that if Seb and Petter switched cars, the results would still be the same, with Seb winning rallies and Petter struggling to keep pace.

Who knows, maybe he's lost confidence after the roll cage failed in Germany a few years back. I couldn't blame him if that was the case.
