I''m surprised Matthew Wilson makes into the top 20 shortlist... I''m sure Matt''s a great guy but really it''s time to rethink the strategy Malcolm. In my modest opinion there have been many examples of underachieving, e.g. on his 5th attempt at his home Rally GB Matt couldn''t even get into the points - Rossi and Wilks finished closer to Wilson than Wilson did to Loeb.

agreed, matthew wilson should not be in the shortlist. anyway, we know who will be number 1, even without a poll!

Oh My God, will someone change the record re: Matthew Wilson! No matter how many times the point is made that people "are sure he's a great guy", the fact is that he DOES has a WRC seat, and Malcolm will NOT be trawling Crash.net, see people don't think his son is worthy of a seat and haul him out of there! It's so boring seeing people whinge and moan all the time.

Anyway, Latvala gets my vote.

Interesting to note your comments Sarah L and that Latvala gets your vote. Interesting also that when Latvala was deemed to underperform Malcolm had no qualms about hauling him out the BP team in favour of Duval. It's just a shame not all Ford drivers are treated equally or indeed born equal.

Yeh, I also have to say, Im tired of everyone carrying on about Matt Wilson. No one talks about other WRC drivers like Gardemiester, or Rautenbach, they seldom do any good ! Its Malcolms son at the end of the day, and Malcolm does finacially contribute to the seat/costs and so that seat just like the one of Rautenbach is funded by his family, "BOUGHT AND PAID FOR" if you like, so its not like its a seat that someone else could fill ! I too think Latvala, I know he drew a few blanks this year, but then so did Loeb a few years ago, but just like then with Seb - You can see the true potential, I just hope he can have a solid year in 2009 and be confident of challenging Seb. Good luck to him !!

Oh and some info for Andrew, Malcolm decided that as the title race was getting close, it would be a smart option to slot Duval into BP Ford as he has more expertise on Ashpalt, also helping with Set up and feedback, Latvala could then slot into Stobart, I think that was very smart, no one minded and everyone saw the sense in it. In the same way that Matt has been nominated to score points when it suited the team (E.G. when Henning was scoring for Munchi's). Its all smart planning, a bit of shuffling with driver availability that dictates these things. Its all one big family at the end of the day, it really was a fantastic athmosphere in the Ford camp last weekend. Im proud of them.

Dafydd, your sentiment is commendable unfortunately sentiment doesn't win fans let alone championship. Look at Ogier for example, first stage in WRC C4 fastest with Matthew down in 12th - 13secs slower on a 3min stage on an event he competed on 5 times in a Focus WRC. Loeb nearly won his first WRC event in a Xsara, finished second. In 50+ events Matthew has got no-where near a podium let alone a win. At some point you have to show speed.
