He get beaten in the brc Dan!

And petter in a ford.... only if petter was paying with his own money would Malcolm
take him!!

Paid drives have ruined the sport, you should have to qualify to compete in a wrc car on a wrc event this way quality of drivers and competition is kept high and also car manufacture intrest.

Well Jimmy that would only work in a fairytale world, in the real world Money makes all the difference, without money from somewhere not even the best drivers would have a job. Rallying is ferociously expensive.

Dan and Chris, for the last time Matts seat is subsidised by the Wilson family and so that seat is Matts seat bought and paid for. Im really quite tired of telling people this, sorry if I sound blunt !!!

I would be suprised if Petter gets any help from Ford, Malcolm hasn't forgotten how he stuck his neck out for Petter and Phil to help them at the start - only for them to desert Ford whilst under contract and contravercially sign with Subaru for 2001, a bitter lawsuit ensued !!

I agree Dafydd that the sport has to be funded from somewhere, just in most cases this funding is married to talent. Some have said isn't necessarily the case at Stobart and there may be a 'talent-gap' rather than a funding-gap.

Dafydd we all know its to do with matt being the son of the ford boss. its rather odvious thats the reason hes there.

all i was saying is prohaps matt would be better off doing some more year in the brc to actually win something. then bring him back to the wrc.

Im sick of people going on about it, they obviously know nothing about rallying, Matt Wilson's seat it paid for by his family and would people please stop slating him, im sure given the chance you would take it!

Gareth, I'm not sure I make your connection between people thinking they're are more deserving drivers than Matt Wilson and the same people knowing nothing about rallying. Colin McRae was assisted by his father, we all remember Colin in the GpN Ford Sierra when Jimmy was in the senior role and GpA Ford Sierra. Family help, however difference being, Colin showed some speed, flew through the stage and people loved him. Gareth - it's not necessarily how you get there but what you do when you arrive. On any measure, over the past three seasons there are drivers more deserving of a Stobart seat.

If he really wanted it, I'm sure Petter could afford to buy himself one of the '06 Focuses that are up for sale at the M-Sport website and go for it. I doubt he'll make it to the start in Norway.
