WRC » Rally Ireland entry list announced

I think the current problems seen in WRC are highlighted by the fact that Matt Wilson gets a #5 seeding. He couldn''t better 5th place at all last season and infact recorded only one 5th place finish in Jordan where Loeb, Solberg etc didn''t finish. Many have said it''s a shame Malcolm and Stobart don''t want to push on for wins otherwise Solberg would be in the car. Have to say I tend to agree.

Im sure Petter would do well in a Stobart Focus and you may even see him in one yet, but Malcolm wont be going out of his way to help Petter and Phil after the fiasco of 2001.

Malcolm invested in them by giving them runs in 1999 in an Escort WRC, then a full programme in 2000 in a works Focus WRC before they left Ford for Subaru whilst still under contract, you just dont do that in the WRC when somone holds their hand out to help you. Help like that is precious and rare and I think Petter and Phil were wreckless and greedy to do that to malcolm.

If Petter can cover the costs he can buy a seat at Stobart if he can convince Malcolm to let him come back. Thats his best shot for 2009 !!!
