WRC » New home for Rally France

This is basically where Loeb "learned to drive", so this should be a success with a lot of local fans! Unfortunately a bit too similar to the Deutschland Rally a few weeks earlier though.

It may be right on Loeb's doorstep but they've introduced this change too late for him. Matt Wilson's year 5 (it's really 7 but who's counting) is next year so he'll win everything going.

No doubt at all who will win this one then. They can get the trophy off to "Timpsons" now!

All those rallies every year (rotational for norway/sweden and deutschland/poland) plus one or two other rallies among the others (ie: ireland, turkey, usa, japan, mexico...)
bring those rallies back and spectators will come, and manufacturers with them!!!! the IRC is nothing without those events!!!
we want those rallies, not bulgaria, alsace....

I agree, the wrc events are way to short recently, bring back the group A cars and rally events from the from the nintys

Yet another part as to why the World Rally Championship ever became popular has seemingly been disgarded in the quest for convenience and TV coverage. Only, thanks to the dumbing down of this once great sport, no one cares anymore.

Bring back the early 1990's!

Horrible, as Corsica is absolutely beautiful and definitely one of my favorite events on the calendar. The WRC is confused at the moment.

This may have more to do with money than anything else. Corsica (WRC classic) could be awkward to get to therefore less spectators. Moving to mainland France will increase spectator numbers and income to the Frence federation. Unlike the Rally Italia move from San Remo ( another absolute classic) to Sardinia, which had the opposite effect. This was moved due to Mosely's close links with the Sardinia event organiser without regard to the travelling spectators. I have attended both San Remo and Sardinia and there is no comparison, San Remo wins hands down. Only advantage is that it will be easier to get to.

There are plenty of good roads in France, Le Touquet was a fantastic event, in fact that is one of the Rallies that stands out as being one of the most enjoyable I ever did and I generally prefer Gravel Rallies

Corsica is well known from the past but I think if they replace it with a rally with good roads as well as being spectator friendly there should be no problem. Not sure about Alsace though.

I agree that by far the best times were the early 90s, 4 day Rallies, night stages, 400BHP cars, plenty of sideways and popping and banging, you needed more skill and bigger balls, also the cars were a lot cheaper to and there was a whole lot less to go wrong too.

Why couldnt they just leave it alone... Corsica was an absolute classic that has been around for ever, it has unique roads, unique scenery and brilliant to watch, the WRC is not a world championship if its not spread world wide, ever more its just typical boring European events, same surface, same roads same style.
