Wilson Jr: I've taken a lot from this weekend

Britain's Matthew Wilson notched up his third top-five finish of the year on Rally Poland last weekend, the final event before the World Rally Championship's four-week summer break.

Wilson ran in the points pretty much throughout, moving up from eighth to seventh in the last stage on day one.

He then maintained that position on Saturday, before gaining two more positions on Sunday, when Citroen Junior Team's Sebastien Ogier and then Jari-Matti Latvala retired.

It was his sixth points' finish of the year and takes his total for the season to 19 - something that leaves him seventh in the drivers' championship, just six behind both Jari-Matti Latvala and 2003 World Rally champion, Petter Solberg.

"The stages here have been amazing and the number of people here has just been incredible," said Wilson Jr. "They really like their rallying here in Poland.

"One of the biggest challenges has been adjusting my brain to the speed of the stages here and trying to maintain the rhythm when the type of road changes. It's been really good preparation for Finland from that respect and it will be a help to have had three days driving at these speeds.

"We have taken a lot from this weekend and I need to just get my notes more consistent to be able to push harder."

The event meanwhile was a significant one for the Stobart squad, as the Cumbrian-based team has now broken through the 250 manufacturer points' threshold since joining the WRC back in 2006.

Ford's 'B' team did it in style too, as not only did Wilson Jr score, but so to did his team-mates, Henning Solberg and Krzysztof Holowczyc, who came in third and sixth.

"We've now reached 250 points for the Stobart team; I'm really proud of what we achieved against the best rally teams in the world," added Stobart Group CEO, Andrew Tinkler. "The guys have all done a fantastic job on this new rally and their ever-growing experience is shining through with more consistent results and stage wins.

"I must congratulate Krzysztof on his points too and it's great that he's achieved this as part of our team."
