McRae confirmed for Rallyday

Former Mitsubishi and Hyundai WRC works driver and British Rally champion Alister McRae will appear at the 2009 Castle Combe Rallyday next month, organisers announced today.

McRae, who now lives in Perth, Australia, will make a welcome return to the UK to star at the show, which has already confirmed the attendance of BP Ford Abu Dhabi team boss and M-Sport director, Malcolm Wilson, as well as his son, Stobart Ford's Matthew Wilson and 1984 World Rally champion, Stig Blomqvist.

McRae will drive a Mitsubishi WRC05 at the event along with the latest Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Group N rally car, which has been developed and supported by MML Sports.

"I am delighted that MML Sports is able to support this year's Rallyday by running two of the most evocative rally cars from recent years," said MML Sports managing director, John Easton at the end of last month when he revealed that his company will be at the 2009 Rallyday.

"This will be the first time that MML Sports has officially demonstrated its range and we are excited about having both cars at the event, as well as the full support infrastructure."

Meanwhile spectators will also be able to see the McRae Enduro on the McRae Vision stand, a vehicle similar to that which Alister used successfully on the Dakar Rally at the start of 2009.

The McRae Enduro will be part of an all-new dedicated 'Rally Raid Zone', showcasing numerous cars and trucks from the Dakar.

Tickets for the 2009 Castle Combe Rally, which takes place on Saturday September 19, are available now and if booked before August 31 cost £10 per adult with accompanying children going free. Tickets on the gate cost £15 per adult and £3 for children.
