2003 World Rally champion Petter Solberg will make his debut for the Citroen Junior Team on the Rally of Great Britain next weekend - and the Norwegian is determined to be fighting right at the front of the pack.

Solberg had his first competitive outing in a Citroen C4 WRC car on the Rally de Espana last time out and he enjoyed a good run to finish fourth and notch up yet another points' finish – his sixth of the season.

Now he heads to Wales for the twelfth and final round in the 2009 FIA World Rally Championship and 'Hollywood' has high hopes.

Indeed he has won the event four times - and has finished in the points every year since 2002.

“The Citroen Junior Team has given me a great chance to show what I can do with a competitive car,” said Solberg. “It feels like I am going back to my roots in many ways. I've had some highs and some lows but now I'm sitting on a great opportunity thanks to Citroën.

“I'm like a young driver who is keen to get noticed. I want to show what I am capable of and do everything possible to make the most of this chance.

“I want to fight at the front, with the very best drivers, as I've always tried to do whenever I've had the right equipment to do it! At the same time, my goal will also be to get a good result for the Citroën Junior Team.

“The Rally Great Britain is an event that I really enjoy. My co-driver Phil Mills will also be rallying on home territory in front of a huge number of his supporters.

“I've already been extremely impressed with the performance of the Citroen C4 WRC and I hope to be able to seize every opportunity that comes my way on these stages that I really love.”

Asked about his first competitive outing with the C4 in Spain, Solberg added that it was great for him to be back in a top machine having had to make do with the outdated Xsara for most of this year.
