BP Ford Abu Dhabi's Jari-Matti Latvala has said that his priority now is to get his 'mind ready' for 2010, following a tough outing on the Rally of Great Britain last weekend, the twelve and final round in the 2009 World Rally Championship.

Latvala eventually finished seventh on the Welsh event in his M-Sport-run Ford Focus RS WRC, 12 minutes down on the winner, Sebastien Loeb, after losing time on Friday's opening leg with a driveshaft issue.

He also had a few other problems too, and slid off the road and down a bank at the finish of Rheola 1, SS14 on Sunday.

Having already crossed the timing beam, he lost no time but his car was stuck. Spectators manhandled it back onto the road, but the suspension was damaged and he had to limp through the final two tests, eventually moving up from P8 to P7 after fifth-placed Sebastien Ogier crashed out.

While he took points though, he wasn't overly pleased, and all-in-all, '09 has been a trying one for the Finn.

Indeed while he won in Sardinia and was also on the podium in Norway, Greece and Finland, he also had that massive crash in Portugal and threw away second in Poland with an error on the final test, a short super special.

"It was a character-building weekend," Latvala summed-up. "I had some technical issues and made a mistake today.

"At a little jump right at the finish I ended up off the road. Thankfully the British fans are as good as the Finns and they got us back on the road quickly. My driving wasn't as good as I hoped here.

"I came here hoping to fight for victory but it wasn't to be. It was a hard season and now I want to forget rallying for a while, concentrate on other things and then get my mind ready for 2010."
