Having clinched a second World Superbike Championship title, James Toseland could be set for more silverware after being named on the ten person shortlist for the
BBC 'Sports Personality of the Year'.
The 27-year-old, who has now switched to MotoGP with the Tech3 Yamaha squad, stormed to the WSBK title this season and also managed to secure his first ever double win on home soil at Brands Hatch in what was his final superbike outing in Britain.
Now, the Bennetts Insurance-backed rider will fly the flag for the motorcycling fraternity in the end of season award – voted for by the public – as he goes up against the likes of F1 star Lewis Hamilton, boxers Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton, athletes Paula Radcliffe and Christine Ohorugu and up-and-coming tennis player Andy Murray.
"We have enjoyed a fantastic season with James," Bennetts marketing director Mark Fells said. "He is a genuinely nice guy and an exceptional motorcycle racer.
"For him to end the year with this additional achievement would be unprecedented in the motorcycle industry, so it would be great to see him receive some much deserved support and put motorcycling firmly on the map in the UK."
