WSS: Plater gets Triumph call

Steve Plater is the latest Bennetts British Superbike racer to announce his step up to the World Supersport Championship after penning a deal with Be1 Racing.

One of the most experience British riders in competition, the former BSB race winner and Macau Grand Prix victor, steps into the shoes of Ivan Clementi, who was injured during testing.

Plater, who has managed a handful of BSB races this season on the AIM Yamaha, joins counterparts Karl Harris and Billy McConnell in performing on the world stage at Brands Hatch this weekend.

Indeed, for Giuliano Rovelli, team manager of Be1 Racing, Plater was a natural choice to race the Supersport specification Triumph.

"I'm really sorry for Ivan who injured his hand during testing,” he told the official British Superbike site. “We have sought a high-level rider and we think that Steve Plater is the right man. He is brave and aggressive; he is also liked by the British supporters. I hope he will give us a strong result."

Glen Richards would be an excellent choice certainly but it might come down to contracts, etc...He's certainly doing a good job on the bike in BSS! :)

P.S. I agree "Plymouth" that bike is gorgeous!
