"His crash in Indianapolis has left him carrying an injury ahead of his second race at Vallelunga this weekend but I know he will give it a go and if nothing else get to grips with the Vallelunga track to stand himself in good stead for 2009.
"After Crutchlow, Sykes, Laverty and Camier all left British Supersport at the end of 2006 there seemed to be a void of young talent to fill their shoes. Now I am pleased to see the likes of James Westmoreland, Ian Lowry and James Webb coming through to name but three riders who will surely make the step up as BSS title challengers next year and then be in a position to look towards the World Series as their predecessors are.
"Another rider I would like to mention is Chris Martin, he has shown well on the less competitive Kawasaki machinery in the UK and has now filled Chris Walkers vacant slot in WSS and ridden very well. His performance is a credit to him and gives us another rider to make his mark in 2009 if Kawasaki gives him a full time ride.
"In the World paddock the 600 Supersport cup class also has good young British riders starting to show real potential and the two riders who impress me most here are Dan Linfoot and Gino Rea who have both been real podium challenging runners this year.
"As we are a Portuguese owned Team I would really like to see us run a young Portuguese rider in this class under our banner and bring on a rider to move into the main team and in the future challenge for the title. This is something we are discussing and I hope we can put ourselves in the position to give a young talent the first step up the ladder.
"It's good to be writing a column for you all again and after the problems our team faced after the loss of Craig I am glad to be able to look forward as I know he would have wanted us to," Buckmaster concluded.
