WSS: Sofuoglu fastest again, Yamaha fights back

Kenan Sofuoglu continues as the man to beat in Portugal, as Cal Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty follow in third and fourth respectively
Kenan Sofuoglu mirrored his first free practice performance during the second outing for the World Supersport riders at Portimao by leaving it late to record his pace setting time.

Champion-elect Cal Crutchlow had been the front runner for much of the session, holding steady with a lap time of 1min 45.281secs, but despite a fall earlier on, Sofuoglu's late charge of 1min 45.105secs was enough to put him ahead again by the chequered flag.

Crutchlow, meanwhile, had to be content with third after Kawasaki's Joan Lascorz popped up ahead of him too, but the Briton was still ahead of fourth place Eugene Laverty, while Yamaha even had the edge over manufacturer title rivals Honda overall too after Michele Pirro and Fabien Foret lifted themselves up to fifth and sixth.

On the weekend he officially hands over his World Supersport crown to either Crutchlow or Laverty, Andrew Pitt was seventh quickest on the second Ten Kate Honda, ahead of Mark Aitchison, Katsuaki Fujiwara and top Triumph rider Garry McCoy.
