Rea: There is still so much potential

Jonathan Rea insists there is plenty more to come from the Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR after breaking the lap record at Portimao
Jonathan Rea is already feeling confident about his 2010 World Superbike title chances after dominating post-season testing at Portimao.

Having completed his maiden World Superbike season with a double podium around the Portuguese circuit at the weekend, Rea continued where he left off by breaking the lap record on day one before going even quicker on day two.

Eventually ending the test with a best lap of 1min 41.878secs, Rea was a tenth faster than the man that beat him to victory in the final race of the season, Michel Fabrizio.

A superb end to 2009, as well as an encouraging boost for 2010, Rea adds there is still more speed to come from the Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR.

“I just want to say how really, really proud I am of the whole team, who have worked so hard over the last weeks. They've gone through this test positively and methodically and got the bike working better.

“The great thing is that there is still so much potential and that just fills me with confidence for next season. The lap times were coming quite easily and we did all our work on used tyres. Everyone deserves a good rest now before we get back to work in December.
