I feel really sorry for Max, but I also don't blame Checa for trying. The race doesn't end until the cheqered flag and it wasn't a million miles away from the Rossi/Gibernau last corner clash at Jerez in 2005...

Again, Max didn't deserve to be caught up in it. In an 'ideal' world Checa would either have made the pass safely and been a hero, or fallen on his own without bringing Max down.

Both riders deserved to win in my eyes.

IM sorry crash.net but i dont think you should put the "" int the word sorry. You really think Carlos is not sorry about what happende to Max? Hope you rectificate that.

Hi Ana, the word "sorry" is in quotation marks simply because that is the exact word that Checa used when talking about the incident. It does not mean anything else. Crash.net.

It s pretty obvious to me it was a quotation. Again, the whole incident has been magnified by the fact that ithappened at the last turn fo what ciuld ve been Max N s maiden win. But that should not affect our judgements. Those who say checa shouldnt ve tried i think should stick to f1

Checa was brilliant, all his overtaking being clean and decisive, especially getting cleanly under Bayliss and Haga in one corner - they're hard enough to overtake individually.

He had to go for it in the last corner and looking at it in slow motion he almost got away with it.

I feel very sorry for Neukirchner but this all happened in a split second - it's what happens when you want to win.

Checa should have been suspended for several races for that bone head move. I hope somebody takes him out in the same way soon.

Stick to the Sofa edward or watch womens tennis, golf, darts or snooker. If you've ever raced at any level you will know the desire to win does, on occasions, even for the top men of the sport cloud a little judgement and that what can be a fairly straight forward move proves sometimes to be just a little rash, mostly it works (a hard overtake) sometimes it does not. If it results in both going down then that's racing, we've all been guilty of that at some time but few of us are scrutinised on TV for our mistakes. Remember Max Neukirchners moves at Brno last year, great moves because he got away with them. What goes round comes round!

Oh, you're a racer, Tonyed. Wow. I'm really impressed. Checa's move was stupid. He could have had second and the points but he wanted to be a hero in front of the Spanish crowd. DUMB!

Alstare Suzuki described the incident as 'Checa tried an impossible manoeuvre up the inside of Max and his rear wheel hit Max, causing both of them to crash'. That's exactly as I saw it too.
You can't do a bonehead move and then simply try and justify it by saying it was a 'racing incident'.
As for comparing it to the Rossi/Gibernau last corner clash at Jerez in 2005 ... not quite ... Rossi deliberately used Gibernau to steer round the corner, which was even worse. At least it looks like Checa was just stupid rather than calculating.

No one likes to see any rider take-out another. (and Im sure Carlos didnt do on purpose) We all should be thankful that atleast in this form of racing we have just that, "racing" and not a procession like in F1.
Get well soon Max.

edward , yes he s raced, so have i, nothing to be impressed about. u dont need to race gpp bike sto understand racing
you sir should stick to f1. you re comment "I hope somebody takes him out in the same way soon. " is as stupid as it gets. Mind you, checa was taken out by holland in a much more dangerous way in PI and diodnt even mention it. Learn some racing and come back in a few years
