I like Walker, but it was nice to see Lavilla getting one over him after the diabolical way Paul Bird has spoken out in the press and over the tannoy after qualifying on Saturday when he was asked about Greg making it into Superpole he responded "spawny bugger"

After the way he''s spoken about Michael Laverty and Sykes in the last few seasons I had given him benefit of a doubt, but he really is an obnoxious g1t. I know he''s put a lot of money into the sport but he makes Colin Wright look like Mother Teresa.

Lavilla is the better rider no question, Walker might have been good 8 years ago but in reality has done little since. If the bikes were as good as some people think they are Lavilla would be consistantly near the front. He can ride a 4 cyclinder bike as he proved with his year on the GSXR1000 for Alstare and when he subbed for Reynold at Thruxton on the Rizla bike. In the past few years Rutter, Byrne, McWilliams and Sykes have all had issues with the Paul Bird Hondas so I think that must tell people something.

I agree Paul Bird's comments have been totally out of order, saying things like Lavilla needs to stick his neck out and that he is just riding for his pension this season. I was at the old harpin on Sunday and Lavilla was giving everything in very difficult conditions. All Walker did during the weekend was almost take out half the field when he lost it on the first lap of the 2nd race. As for bringing in Hodgson to partner Walker at Donnington, surely that was just some kind of publicity stunt - he hasn't been in a competitive championship for years and was only World Champion in 2003 as it was the weakest year ever with the 1000cc 4's being restricted and only his team mate to beat.
