Let Schumi enjoy himself on bikes. It brings more attention to our loved sport and hopefully more people would watch it and become fans.

Admittedly I'm not an expert of the club motorbike racing scene, but when I went to motorbike forums to see what's the buzz on Schumi's performance on two wheels they all applaused him. So I assume it's pretty good actually. Of course, he is not gonna be a MotoGP or SBK World Championship rider but that's not the point either.

Alex has dusted off an NSR500 at Motegi.

I'd love to see what Michael would make of that monster.

His 4 sec though shows a great deal of talent. I know he's dismissed it in the past but it would be great if he became a privateer (self funded) in W Superbike or W. Supersport for one year. It would be such a buzz to have his name on the TV screen showing grid position when the 3 min board is shown.

I ride at the track and I am no slouch. I'm also honest enough to say that I would not have the pace to match Schumi's lap times.
Four seconds off Kyo's and Checa's pace is pretty impressive if you'd ask me. TC or no TC.
I'm still honest enough to say that if I'd be given all electronics in the world possible I'd still prolly could not ride at this pace.
Maybe after a million laps. But that's just a maybe.

Remember, Schumi's performance in the IDM isn't all that bad. I bet the slowest guy in the IDM would still ride circles around most of us.

"TC only helps in acceleration (prevents high siding) which is only the last part of a corner"

Pehaps, but you should have pointed out how important that is... that ability to put optimun power down earlier in a corner knowing it is safe to do so because the computer controls it (or is supposed to) is VERY important and can make seconds difference around a lap. Laguna Seca's "throttle" graphic was amazing.

Schumi did great. Don't be so cynical! As someone said, he is a guy that because of his prestige and fame, he gets to ride on these bikes. I don't think he particularly does it for publicity (unlike the guys that let him ride them do), I think it's just a real buzz for him...

The people who disliked Schumi in F1 will dislike him now. The point has already been stated, love him or hate him, he will be good for any motor sport, and if you have any sort of love for bikes, surely this is what you are wanting. Thanks for explaining to the general public Raw Dawg as to what TC actually does

And if you think you can turn up the traction control and be 4 seconds off the pace of a WSBK regular than you have never ridden a motorbike. TC doesn't aid in braking from high speed nor does it help from low siding during turn in or trail braking or how much side grip you have with the tires. TC only helps in acceleration (prevents high siding) which is only the last part of a corner.

Surely his poor ol' wife can't be happy with his new hobby! LOL! I bet she is giving him grief for spending so much time on bikes after a highly dangerous career.
