What a true Champion and RACER ! Ducati nearly blew it all with their mismanagement of Bayliss MotoGP adventure. Now,he leaves with the best feeling and a great legacy - truly the greatest WSBK rider ever.I also just love it that he had the rare opportunity to come back and chin-check the MotoGP boys with that stunning victory at Valencia in 2006.Biaggi would shave his goatee for THAT chance ! Farewell Troy Bayliss,a true Desmodromic Saint !

Race 2 was vintage Bayliss.

One more race and that's it for Troy. Not bad for a car spray painter from Taree, NSW.

Well done Troy and good luck mate. Make the last 2 races something special and lets hope 1 last GP ride might be on the cards.

Simply the best Champion ever! Gracious, determined, respectful and honest. What a Champion. Troy, you are the reason I bought a Ducati back in 2001!!!..Stoner wins races but he doesn't win as many fans...you are truly the people's champion!! A blue collar trackday rider that became World Superbike Champ and backed it up 2 more times!!! God Bless Troy Bayliss!! Long live the Baylisstic missile!!!!

"Stoner wins races but he doesn't win as many fans..."

In fairness to Casey, Rossi is the overwhelming 'peoples rider' in MotoGP, and he is always going to struggle to win fan support. Casey is also quite shy. Seeing him chatting to aussie commentators (people he knows) at PI he was very different. Far more friendly and happy.

Having said that, compared to Casey at this stage in his life Bayliss is definitely a more agreeable fellow. He's a rare combination of freak talent, and nice, down to earth guy, and I will very much miss watching him next year. In some ways his win at Magny-Cours made me sad, cos it reminded me what we're going to be missing next year.

My only wish is that he had started earlier, and he would have broken most of the records, except Corsers Superpole record, Great guy BEST Rider.........

Bayliss is a true hero to me. He's the hardest, most talented, most humble and endearing character Superbikes has ever seen. His one-in-every-three race winning record, when compared with Foggy's one-in-every-just-under-four race record puts it into perspective.

If it weren't for all the Brits and the new BMW and Aprilia teams next season, i reckon WSB without Bayliss would be truly dismal.
