You are a silly boy Marlow... the 1200cc twin/1000cc four rule is based around a piston speed formula. Both configurations are limited to the same max piston speed and twins have a capacity advantage to create performance parity. Previously with the universal 1000cc formula the twins were allowed extra exotic non production internals to reach parity... a stupid idea for production based racing.

Does the 1200/1000cc rule work? Yes Bayliss won the championship, but where were the rest of the Ducatis? Certainly NOT in second, third & fourth fifth position, which would have been the case if the rules were unbalanced.

Q - do you think that you would have won the c/ship if the 1200 was actually 1098?
Troy - I dont think so....no!
Q - what would you have done if WSB would have made Ducati run the 1098?
Troy - Ducati would never let that happen!!...they would have had a meeting with WSB and changed the rules to suit us......Ducati get on well with WSB...we are very big mates.

Got to disagree Marlow, Nori has demonstrated that the playing field is not that uneven. Props to Bayliss for an entertaining year in WSB.

Judging by the racing the bikes were equal... The reason Haga, and the others, were so far behind is because he kept falling off and everyone else was really inconsistant.

Note: I am not saying that is why Bayliss won, I am saying that is why the gap to Bayliss is the size that it is.

Rossi have 87 points advantage to Stoner after 16 races. Bayliss have 85 points more than Haga after 26(!!) races. So what's the problem Marlow?!?!

Somtimes people just need to wind their necks in and acknowledge that there are gifted riders and great riders. Bayliss and Rossi . . Gifted in their respected classes and all the rest just great.

It was Ducati & their rule bending I was whinging about.
Glon - in Moto GP all the bikes are the same cc......equal playing field.

Marlow11,i totally agree with you.I do admire Bayliss as a great rider and great ambassador to motorbike racing, but these brand new Ducati's have whipped all the other bikes that have had 2/3 years developement. The reason other people crashed early in the season was because they had to ride way over the limit to keep up with these brand new Dukes. Look at BSB and Shakey has cruised to the title on the Duke.

DFH-- you've got to admit though it's been a strange year, in BSB and WSBK the first half was totally dominated by Ducati and the fours didn't get a look in, second half, Byrne hasn't won for 11 races and Bayliss I think one win in the last ten...

You couldn't win motogp with those kind of performances...
