Jack Mordino u´re absolutely RIGHT!! nontheless it would be great to see Valentino mixing up with Haga, Corser, Neukirchner and so on....how old is Bayliss now ? 40-42? well maybe Valentino will give us the joy to be in WSB when he will be that age (after having won the WRC title of course :-)

Edwards out rode Bayliss in Imola? are you smoking crack? Did you actually follow the weekend before the race or did you just watch highlights of it and the end result?? Edwards had a full second and a half on Bayliss in practice and qualifying going into the 1st race in Imola. Every team in the WSBK paddock was saying the race was over because the Honda was so far out in front on race pace...everyone but Edwards who said "That Bayliss is a fighter and it is not over". What did Bayliss do? He just went out there and shadowed Edwards the entire race and was actually gaining in the first race until the stoppage. Ducati has had the luxury of having the best riders. Corser/toseland, fogarty..etc

I agree it is difficult to compare riders from different eras but what I said regards Vale is not just my opinion but the opinion of far more knowledgable people than either Me2 or myself, . Regards Colin Edwards beating Bayliss, I watched the race from Italy where Edwards beat Bayliss for the world title and there is no doubt that Edwards out rode him, Bayliss is a very good rider and a fighter but like all the other Ducati riders before him he has had some advantages over his opposition, after all WSB is a championship run by Italians. one only had to watch the support races from Phillip Island to Know there are many more Aussies like Bayliss only waiting for the right opportunity to shine

"Colin Edwards cleaned him up in world superbikes"
Stupid comment! Colin Edwards never won a MotoGP race. Bayliss did.

Stats are the most stupid thing to use when trying to quantify a career. Bayliss has had the best team behind him in WSBK. The year he lost to Edwards (Factory Honda) was the year he had Xaus as his team mate remember when Rueben poleaxed Troy in practise? Troy may well have lost the championship right there. That's not to say Edwards is a chump far from it.

Anyone who saw Troy race a 250 at Philip Island as a wild card knows what a talent the guy is. But comparing Troy to Rossi is just dumb for so many reasons. Adding the German prat in is beyond dumb.

Stupid thread!

No Contest! Rossi won on 125, 250 & 500 2strokes, 900 4stroke now 800 4stroke, he left the no 1 team (Honda) and turned a non performer into a winner (Yamaha), no body else has done this! Mick Doohan said Rossi is the greatest rider of all time, most knowledgeable people agree, Bayliss good as he is is not in the same league, Colin Edwards cleaned him up in world superbikes and look where he is in moto gp!

I'm the biggest Bayliss fan but I don't think its fair to compare anyone to Valentino....Rossi is by far the most dominant racer among all racers. Bayliss himself said that Rossi was "Godlike" in the Moto gp video. With that said, if Bayliss had the 06 Desmosedici...I'm sure he would have spanked Rossi in a couple races...People forget that the GP bike Troy used in 03 was just fast and could not handle..the 04 bike was a disaster. And we all know Troy is not a finesse kind of rider so the Honda V5 did not suit his style. Give Troy the same bike and I guarantee that he'll make it a slugfest...I've always said there sould be an IROC race to settle such disputes. With that said, Rossi is king.

no one is saying any diffrent hats of to all riders but has you pointed out yourself some just dont get the breaks (pitty and others)for those who do get "lucky" and in wsbk terms it has always been ducati you should have more chance of wins sad but true

wow jazz the point i was making his wsbk is basically a ducati series but dressed up in such a way that other team's can tag a long for the ride (pardon the pun)but has soon has another team win's the rules change to bring it more favorable for the duke's and that is fact! bigger engines italian tyres etc...bayliss is a great rider no doubt but when you have the resources behind you the stats state you will win the most
