Rumours are that Paddock and a couple of other corner on the long circuit are being worked on over the winter to sort out the vehicle tunnels and to increase run off. I do not think that safety is the problem, just FGSport getting too greedy. JP did expect to pay more than 2008 but the price to be doubled is unreasonable. JP is right to stick to his guns and not agree to this extortsion. Even from a business point of view, to lose the exposure of the biggest attended round of the championship cannot be good for anyone.

On an additional note, with the run off increased, could JP be aiming to put a bid in get MotoGP at Brands, that is why he is not too concerned about losing WSBK?

There must be more to the story than this. I can''t imagine FGSport would willingly lose the most successful round of WSBK without a very good reason. Would it really be necessary to pass on 15 pounds per spectator, the projected crowd figures for 09 would be a lot higher with the influx of ''home'' talent..

An extra £15... Some of us would have paid that....

BUT Palmer wants a profit - so do the Flammini''s so who would have to cover that - US!!!

Anybody know whether Donners is increasing the ticket prices??

That was my thought - Brands Hatch attracts huge numbers, which would surely negate the need for a price premium on the ticket because FG Sport probably earn more from cheap tickets at Brands Hatch than they do with expensive tickets at, say, Qatar maybe.

Either way, I agree with JP that it seems a bit much to price your most important race of the season out of contention. Nobody wins out of this - both of them lose a vital event and a tidy sum of money I guess, while fans won't have one of the best circuit's on the calendar.

There is more to the story...Seems some tracks have been regraded for safety and Brands dosen't meet the new criteria. The only way for that round to run is for a large amount of money to be spent to increase run off etc. You then run into planning issues and time even if the money can be found. Unless there's a large amount of money pumped into Brands it's in danger of losing World Championship bike racing for good...

I would also pay the £15 extra for Brands, although I suppose I won't miss drunkenly blowing about £100 in the Daily Sports lapdance tent on the Friday night!

Brands would need big money to get a MotoGP homologation... it would take more than just a little run off here and there. If there are safer circuit choices in the eyes of riders for a particular country that's where the races will run. As much as I'd love to see Rossi etc at Brands until it's at least as safe (run off distances) with Donington and Silverstone it won't happen.

Well if what JP says is true i'm glad he's said no to those greedy Directors at FGSports. JP is protecting cost rises for the fans, so its glad to see someone cares about the customer. However lets hope this bike event that he is looking to replace WSBK with is something special..eg a Battle of Britain event. All the home grown tallent V the rest of the world, over a number of differnt classes. It may not be a championship race but something of a real spectical for all the bike fans to reallly enjoy that isn't gonna cost £65+ a ticket. Good luck JP i look forward to the press release.
