Some fantastic riding from Jonny... not out of place one bit in the WSBK field. I think he made race 1 hard for himself with his typewriter effect riding, i.e all the way through the pack, then a mistake and straight to the back of the group, all the way back through and all the way to the back again! still, great debut, he showed he is willing to fight hard and not give in, he will be one to watch next season for sure! cant wait!

WSBK » Rea: I can't wait to start testing...

Jonathan Rea just misses a podium on his World Superbike debut, but sows the seeds for an assault on the 2009 season.

A fantastic and entertaining performance from Jonny....fantastic potential for next season. Jonny took Sofuoglu's bike and showed how it should have been ridden. once Jonny gets some testing miles under his belt he will be competing for podiums and wins in 2009. :D

And don't forget, Grey Cat, that Sofuoglu simply rode off in to the sunset on Jonny's old bike, in the WSS race. So far in fact that I think Pitty will already be wishing he won a (deserved) super bike ride after all.

Fair point RaceFan, Sofuoglu rode the wheels off it to record a dominant win. (not sure what the punches on Hayes was all about thou?) Just can't understand why such a talented rider did'nt gel with the Superbike. (I know that he had unfortunate family problems this year). Jonny on the other hand showed that he has the talent to compete for podiums/wins.

Roger that, Grey Cat.
I couldn't figure out why he lashed out either, but I guess Hayes may have thrown him off his line somewhere with some lairy braking.
I think all the Brits will be up there next year but my current feeling is that Shakey, Haslam and Rea will be the most dominant Brits. I suspect Sykes will be fast but he will have to beat his team mate first... and beating Spies on the same machinery is going to be tougher than Mike Tyson in a Chieftan Tank. Ask Mladin. As for Tommy Hill, he'll take some time to get back into it, but he's talented... so we can expect him to deliver.
What do you think?

I have been a big fan of Rea for a long while now and really rate him as the best British rider for a generation and the most likely to do something like win a championship than any other rider from these isles.

I don't think he'll need much to be winning next year, this lad is fast, i expect him to be in MotoGP by 2012.(thats if MotoGP will be worth going to by then)

Re Josh and Kenan - Josh did a hand signal as a joke when he completed a three rider draft pass, but Kenan took it personally and appeared to try to punch Josh off his bike - then produced the fastest lap of the race!

Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts used to flick each other the V - Kenan obviously isn't used to that sort of humour.

Rea is fast , I reckon on anything, but he's way too reckless, he'd a good show in BSB but the honda was way better than the Duke. Ducati had to have the rules changed to remain competitive. There's a difference between SS and WSBK and Kenan showed this weekend just how far off the pace the SS series has been this year... Rea's ace card is he is on the best bike, which will give him an edge over his fellow brits..for me Haslam on a factory honda would be the one, he's proved in BSB that he can not only develop a new machine but win consistantly on it..I hope Stiggy's relation with TenKate is strong....will be a great season..

Needs the pre-season, his riding was way too eratic in Portugal, along way to go but I wish him all the luck in the world. Has the talent now requires the discipline, much like Simoncelli matured this season.
