WSBK » Roberts to race Guandalini Ducati in '09

According to todays MCN the NW200 BSB team were offerred a full factory Ducati for 2009 provided that they ran Brendan Roberts instead of Michael Rutter, but Brendan was being offerred a lot of money for WSB. Ducati are obviously backing this guy and trying to bring on young talent especially now that they have sent Canepa to MotoGP.

I wonder which is best - an F09 in BSB on which you might win the BSB title or an RS09 on which you might win top privateer in WSB? (Perhaps Byrne has already answered that question - you win the BSB title and you get a privateer WSB ride!)

John Laverty will probably now get the NW200 BSB ride now that Brendan has signed for Guandalini.

If Roberts came to BSB, he would probably HAVE to win the title to justify Ducati's faith in him and that is a lot of pressure for your first season of Superbikes. By staying in WSBK, he can probably pace himself a bit.

The competition is so strong that the status of 'top privateer' is probably going to be a bit more sought after now, particularly if he can make regualr top ten appearances.
